Getting started

Moving your accounts to Bold Wealth

Feel at ease as your accounts move. Here’s what to expect, step by step, and how the way your investments are managed will change.

What changes for you

You may be used to an advisor recommending individual investments, such as mutual funds, and asking for your approval before each trade. With Bold Wealth Partners, your portfolio is managed on a discretionary basis. Here’s what that means for you.

Your portfolio manager looks after the day to day
Your portfolio manager at Bold Wealth Partners provides the investment advice and makes the day-to-day investment decisions for your portfolio, according to the strategy you’ve agreed to. You won’t be asked to approve individual trades.
You stay in control of the big picture
Your strategy is shaped by your goals, your time horizon, and your comfort with risk, and the final say is always yours. It isn’t set and forgotten—as your life evolves, your strategy can evolve with it.
Your advisor is in your corner
Your advisor at Seven Elements is here to support you and your financial plan, and helps make sure your portfolio manager understands what matters most to you.
Everything in one place
Your accounts, statements, and tax documents are all available through your Addepar portal, whenever you want to see them.
Clear, simple fees
Our fees guide walks you through what you pay and what each part covers.

What stays the same

  • Your advisor, who knows your story and your plan
  • Our Client Services team, here for any question or request
  • Your goals—your plan is still built around them, and around you

How the move works

  1. Opening your new accounts We prepare your account applications with your help and gather your Know Your Client information. Then you review and sign the forms.
  2. Moving your investments Your accounts move from your current institution to Aviso Wealth, the custodian. Your portfolio manager at Bold Wealth Partners starts by getting to know your goals and preferences, then draws on their expertise to decide how best to transition your current holdings. Some may move as they are (in kind), and others may be sold and moved as cash, always with your goals in mind.
  3. Setting up your portfolio Once your assets arrive, your portfolio manager at Bold Wealth Partners invests them according to your strategy.
  4. Signing in to Addepar You’ll receive an email invitation to set up your Addepar portal login. Our sign-in guide walks you through it.

Timing

Most accounts are opened within approximately two weeks of submission to Aviso Wealth. Once your accounts are funded, you’ll begin to see your investments and account details in your Addepar portal.

During the transfer, you may receive statements from both your previous institution and Aviso Wealth. This is normal.

Your investments

Understanding your investment experience

Feel confident through the ups and downs. Investing is a long-term journey, and changes in market value are a natural part of it.

Your portfolio is managed by your portfolio manager at Bold Wealth Partners and built around both your short- and long-term goals, following the strategy you’ve agreed to. Here’s what to keep in mind when you check your account in Addepar or read your statements.

Ups and downs are part of the journey

Markets move every day in response to economic, business, and world events. It’s normal to see your account value rise and fall from one day, month, or quarter to the next—and it doesn’t mean your strategy has changed.

Your portfolio is shaped by your goals, your time horizon, and your comfort with risk, and it’s managed with your plan in mind rather than short-term headlines.

A strategy that evolves with you

Your investments aren’t a set-and-forget arrangement. Your portfolio manager invests your assets according to your strategy and keeps your portfolio aligned with it over time. As your life evolves—a new career chapter, a growing family, retirement coming into view—your goals may shift, and your strategy can evolve with them.

Any change to your strategy is your decision, made with advice from your portfolio manager and support from your advisor. Keeping us up to date on what’s happening in your life helps make sure your portfolio continues to reflect the story you’re building.

Looking at the bigger picture

The most meaningful way to measure progress is against your goals, over a time frame that fits them. A single month, or even a single year, rarely tells the whole story.

Good to know

Questions are always welcome. If something in your account or statements doesn’t make sense, or your circumstances have changed, reach out. We’re here to help you feel confident about where you are and where you’re headed.

Managing your accounts

Beneficiaries and trusted contacts

Enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing the right people are named—and that your wishes are clear.

Beneficiary designations

Keeping your beneficiary designations current is an important part of your overall estate plan. We recommend reviewing them after any major life event, such as marriage, separation, the birth of a child or grandchild, or the death of a beneficiary.

Depending on the account, you may be asked to name:

A primary beneficiary
The person or organization who receives the account proceeds upon your death.
A contingent beneficiary
Who receives the proceeds if your primary beneficiary is unable to.
A successor holder or successor annuitant
For a TFSA or FHSA, your spouse or common-law partner can be named successor holder and take over the account directly. For a RRIF, they can be named successor annuitant and continue receiving the payments.

RESPs work a little differently: the child or grandchild named on the plan is its beneficiary from the start. To add, update, or review a designation, contact our Client Services team and we’ll guide you through it.

Keep in mind

Beneficiary designations may take precedence over your Will, depending on the account and provincial law. Bold Wealth Partners and Aviso Wealth don’t provide legal or estate advice, so check with your lawyer or estate professional that your designations and Will work together.

Naming a trusted contact person

A trusted contact person is someone you authorize us to contact if we can’t reach you, or if we have concerns about your well-being or possible financial exploitation.

They don’t have access to your account and can’t make decisions or transactions on your behalf. Naming one isn’t required, but we recommend it. Contact our Client Services team to add or update yours.

Keep in mind

A trusted contact person isn’t a power of attorney, executor, or beneficiary, and has no authority over your account. We’ll only contact them in limited circumstances permitted by law and privacy rules.

Making a contribution

Tell us how much you’d like to contribute and when, and we’ll prepare the authorization to transfer the funds from your linked bank account.

Your investments

Understanding your fees

Feel confident knowing what you pay and why. Your fees cover your financial plan and the professional management of your portfolio.

Your fees are made up of two parts: a financial planning fee and a portfolio management fee. Both are a percentage of your account assets and are deducted directly from your accounts.

Financial planning fee—Seven Elements
Your ongoing financial planning with Seven Elements, including goal setting, retirement planning, and guidance as your life evolves. This fee is paid to Seven Elements by Bold Wealth Partners and is included in the fees outlined below.
Portfolio management fee—Bold Wealth Partners
The discretionary management of your portfolio and the investment advice provided by your portfolio manager.

Your fee rates

Your financial planning fee is 1.00% per year, as set out in your account documents. Your portfolio management fee is tiered, based on your total account assets:

Total account assetsPortfolio management fee
Below $2,000,0000.30%
$2,000,000 and above0.25%
$5,000,000 and above0.20%

All rates are annual and calculated before applicable taxes.

How fees are charged

  • Fees are calculated on the average daily market value of your account assets and billed monthly, in arrears
  • Any foreign assets are converted to Canadian dollars for fee calculations
  • If your portfolio holds investment funds managed by Bold Wealth Partners, the management fee is charged within those funds rather than at the account level
  • There’s no performance fee charged at the account level
  • You’ll see your fees on your account statements, and non-registered accounts also receive an annual fee report with your tax documents

Good to know

Investment management fees for non-registered accounts may be tax-deductible. Financial planning fees, and fees for registered accounts, generally are not. Your tax professional can confirm how this applies to you.

Important Information

This material is provided for general informational purposes and does not constitute personalized investment, tax, legal, or insurance advice. Fees and services may vary based on individual circumstances and applicable agreements. Full details of investment management fees, financial planning compensation, and other applicable charges are provided in Bold Wealth Partners’ client documentation and any required referral arrangement disclosures.

Managing your accounts

Protecting your account

Your security matters to us. Here’s how we’ll always communicate with you, and a few simple habits that help keep your accounts safe.

What you can always count on

We never hold your money
Your investments are held in your name at Aviso Wealth, and contributions go directly from your bank account to those accounts. We’ll never ask you to make a payment out to us, or to send money to anyone else.
We never ask for your login details
We’ll never ask for your password, a verification code, or access to your computer or phone—by phone, email, or text.
When in doubt, call us
If a message or call ever feels unusual, contact us directly at 705-812-1322 or clientservices@sevenwealth.ca, rather than using the contact details in the message.

Signs something may not be right

  • A request to send money, or to change where your money goes
  • A request for your password or a verification code
  • Pressure to act quickly or keep something secret
  • An investment opportunity that promises unusually high or guaranteed returns

Simple habits that help

  • Use a password for your Addepar portal that you don’t use anywhere else
  • Turn on two-step verification, where available
  • Keep your phone and computer up to date
  • Glance over your statements regularly, and let us know if anything looks unfamiliar

Something doesn’t feel right?

Call us at 705-812-1322 or email clientservices@sevenwealth.ca. There’s never any harm in checking, and we’re always happy to help.
